Electromagnetic flowmeters (mag meters) are volumetric flow meters that take measurements by generating a magnetic field that channels through conductive liquids as they flow through a pipe. As the fluid flows, the voltage electrodes in the pipe wall sense the voltage. The higher the flow rate, the greater the amount of voltage generated. An electronic transmitter then converts these signals to provide flow rate measurements.
Typical applications for magnetic flowmeters include-Water and wastewater, Chemical production, Pulp and paper production, Mining, Power Generation, Food and Beverage, Pharmaceutical
(Makes:Krohne Marshall , Siemens, ABB, E&H Exstock-further depends on size)
Advantages of electromagnetic flowmeters include:
- Wide flow range
- High accuracy
- Obstruction-free design with no moving parts
